Basic Introduction to Several Alloy Valves

Copper alloy valve

Copper alloy valves are mainly applicable to valves with nominal pressure not greater than PN25 and operating temperature between - 40~180 ℃ for oxygen and seawater pipelines. They have good corrosion resistance to water, seawater, various salt solutions, and organic matters. It has good corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, cool acid, dilute hydrochloric acid, etc. that do not contain oxygen or oxidants, and has good resistance to alkalis. However, it is not resistant to the corrosion of oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid, as well as the corrosion of molten metals, sulfur, and sulfides. Avoid contact with ammonia, which can cause stress corrosion cracking of copper and steel alloys. When selecting, it should be noted that different grades of steel alloys have certain differences in their corrosion resistance.

Aluminum alloy valve

Aluminum alloy valves have good corrosion resistance to strong oxidizing concentrated nitric acid, and are resistant to organic acids and solvents. However, it is not resistant to corrosion in reducing media, strong acids, and strong bases. "The higher the purity of aluminum, the better its corrosion resistance, but its strength is lower, and it can only be used as a lining for valves or valves with very low pressure.".

Titanium alloy valve

Titanium alloy valves are mainly suitable for seawater, oxides, oxidizing acids, organic acids, alkalis, and other media with a nominal pressure not greater than PN25 and a working temperature between - 30 and 316 ℃. Titanium is an active metal that can form an oxide film with good corrosion resistance at room temperature. It can withstand the corrosion of seawater, various chlorides and hypochlorites, wet chlorine, oxidizing acids, organic acids, bases, etc., but it is not resistant to the corrosion of relatively pure reducing acids, such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, but it is resistant to the corrosion of nitric acid containing oxidants. Titanium alloy valves have good resistance to pitting corrosion, but stress corrosion can occur in media such as red fuming nitric acid, chloride, and methanol.

Zirconium alloy valve

"Hao is also an active metal. Zirconium alloy valves can form a tight oxide film, which has good corrosion resistance to nitric acid, chromic acid, alkali liquor, molten alkali, salt liquor, urea, sea water, etc. However, it is not resistant to the corrosion of hydrofluoric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, aqua regia, nor to the corrosion of wet chlorine and oxidizing metal chlorides.".
